Tent Fabrics:

Through a continuous and rigorous process of Research and Product Development, Tentickle's Manufacturing Division can now offer a range of technologically superior products that are 100% waterproof, UV resistant, anti-fungal and insect repellent.

Over the years, Tentickle has developed special manufacturing processes and techniques to waterproof its stretch tent fabrics using a combination of physical and chemical coating. Sealing the seams, however, has been for a very long time, a big challenge in the Bedouin Tent industry. Available seam sealing techniques were either ugly and didn't last, or looked nice but were ineffective.

We have recently launched our latest technological advancement - Seam sealing technology in the same colour as the tent fabric!! It is invisible to the eye and has undergone rigorous and long-term testing in the South African sun and rain conducted by a renowned and established Cape Town University. We can now proudly say that we have 100% waterproof tents!

Our most popular and highly recommended export quality tents are manufactured from this specially developed 3ply, 2-way stretch fabric and are double-layered, chemically coated and seam sealed to make them 100% waterproof and UV resistant.

Although the above is our flagship product, we also manufacture double-layer, non-coated tents and single-layer non-coated tents. Whilst water-resistant, these tents are not 100% waterproof. They are perfect for shade, wind protection and indoor rigging.

Following hot on the heels of the announcement of our unique seam sealing technology in October last year, we are pleased to once again announce that we are now able to supply a brand new range of "FIRE RETARDENT" and "FIRE PROOF" products.

These products have been specifically developed, designed and manufactured for our overseas clients in Europe and other countries and comply fully with world-wide fire, safety and disaster norms and standards, without exception. Our "FIRE RETARDENT" and "FIRE PROOF" product range is available in all our standard colours and different weight fabrics.

Colours:

Colours: We are offering to our clients at this stage a range of 9 standard colours. Every colour has got its purpose and its pros and cons. It is advisable to investigate which colours are delivering the best service for your own particular needs. I am taking this opportunity to express my personal opinion regarding the several colour options.

color_white White:

I love white tents. The "pure" and "virginal" look for weddings as well as high profile events and beach venues is unbeatable. White tents provide the perfect surface for projections and amazing light displays for night time functions.

Unfortunately, White tents are not easy when it comes to maintenance. The rigging team has to be very careful not to dirty the tent during the set up and breakdown. Groundsheets definitely have to be used at all times. We are washing our white tents after almost every function to be able to guarantee the next client a "snow" white tent. This obviously involves additional costs for the cleaning and also reduces the lifetime of the tent. Each wash is reducing the lifetime by approximately 1 - 3 function days, depending on the PH level of the water. Our Hire Department is recovering these additional costs by adding an additional 20% on the hire fee for white tents.

My advice: White tents are not suitable for all venues or functions. I would not recommend hiring white tents out at dusty venues or for low budget events. We are also not advising structures above 300m2 in such a light colour. It will be almost impossible to get the tent clean up and down.

color_cream Cream:

White tents are very bright in the sun. Cream tents are a very nice alternative to the white. Cream is advisable for permanent installation as it is not showing so easy dust layers (unavoidable with long term pitches) and the sun reflection is not so harsh. Cream is off-white with a very small % of yellow.

For most of our clients, Cream is an acceptable alternative to White as they are very close to each other in colour.
Silver Grey:

Silver Grey is, in our business at the moment, the most common colour. It is suitable for smart or formal events, weddings, corporate or any other function. It blends perfectly with the natural surroundings. Projections and light displays also work very well with this colour! The advantage of the Silver Grey is that it doesn't show the dirt so easily. Dust marks are not that visible. The fading of the colour is also not so visible with this light colour.

A few brightly coloured stretch décor pieces can change the neutral Grey very quickly into a funky tent set up. The Grey tents and the additional décor pieces are giving a hire company a multi-functional purpose to the product.
Beige:

Beige tents create a perfect cosy, warm, rustic and natural atmosphere. Lighting the interior of the tent with yellow, orange, red and purple lights work very well for night functions and are emphasising the actual tent colour.

Beige tents are blending into every beach, Mediterranean, safari or sandstone environment. A couple of poufs, some low tables and Persian carpets can create an authentic Bedouin / Moroccan theme for that special event.
Red:

All bright colours (i.e. Yellow, Orange, Red, Turquoise and Royal Blue) are highly suitable for sponsored events as well as for use in rainy / grey countries. Most of our clients in rainy countries are of the opinion that the tents for party events should create a bright, colourful and funky vibe.

Red is the most used Brand colour worldwide and it is the colour of love! You can't go wrong! Bright colours also don't show the dirt (excl. yellow) as much and therefore you won't have to wash the tents so often.
color_orange Burned Orange:

Our Burned Orange colour should not be mistaken with Bright or Signal Orange. Our Burned Orange is not too bright and creates a warm, cosy atmosphere. It is also a fairly popular brand colour.
color_royal_blue Royal Blue:

Royal blue combines very well with most of the other bright colours and is also often used as a 3rd brand colour.

Dirt and dust hardly shows and these tents don't have to be washed so often.

It is not advisable to use Blue or Green tents if food will be served under the tent as the Blue / Green light reflection makes the food look very bad!
Yellow:

The light bright colours are creating an uplifting effect for the eye.

Turquoise:

Turquoise also combines well with all the other bright colours. We were very positively surprised after we received the first batch of Turquoise from our production house. A simultaneously smart and funky effect left us speechless. I would carefully call it sexy!

Non standard colours:

All our stated lead-times are based on our standard colour range.

However, it is possible to match any colour required by our clients, provided that they furnish us with a colour swatch.

Manufacturing of non-standard colours will require:

- Minimum order of 800m2

- 2 -3 weeks extra lead time

- Colour swatch from the client

Poles:

We recommend the use mainly of wooden poles (Blue Gum), which creates a warm and "cozy" look / feel. However we can supply Aluminum poles as well. Poles can only be air freighted up to 3m in length. We recommend to our overseas clients that they investigate whether they can at least source the pegs and poles in their own countries as shipping of these items does not always work in their favor. Decor & Lighting Optional Extras:

Tentickle can supply a full range of designer stretch décor and lighting options to its clients. It is an effective and creative way to decorate and enhance any space. Low transport costs, small storage requirements, big effects, winter seasonal income, the ability to add 2nd and 3rd colours to any tent and the ability to easily compliment a sponsor's colours, make this an excellent optional extra for our clients. Intelligent and creative rigging skills are, however, necessary. Back To Top

Water & Sun Protection (Seam Sealing & Gutters):

100% Waterproof Tent Fabrics:

Tentickle has specialized in the supply of Bedouin Tents to Tent and Event companies in Europe, America and Africa. All our international clients operate in the top end of the industry and require quality products. We have therefore, over the last few years, focused on the development of guaranteed 100% waterproof tent fabrics, total UV protection, strength and lifetime.

Not satisfied, however, with merely developing a waterproof tent fabric only, we then went one step further and, together with a team of designers and engineers, we developed a unique seam sealing technology using special seam sealing tape and application machine. With this innovative and unique technology we are able to manufacture and supply 100% guaranteed waterproof Bedouin Tents.

Gutter Feature / System

Although the biggest recommended size of a single Bedouin Tent is 600m2 (30 x 20), larger structures can be created by joining various tents together. These joins are, however, creating gaps between the 2 joined tents which are definitely not welcome in heavy rain, midday sun or strong winds. We are therefore equipping our tents with a special gutter feature / system which allows these gaps to be quickly and easily closed without affecting the aesthetic look of the tents.

UV Protection:

Tentickle is supplying clients in Oman, Namibia, Kenya and various other desert climate countries with our products. All our clients require a very high UV protection factor due to the harsh desert and sunny conditions in their countries. Our export product is made out of 3-ply Tent Fabrics. All layers are made from 100% Polyester (with a built-in UV protection factor) to achieve the longest lifetime and strength possible. The middle layer is blocking the remaining harmful rays of the sun and in this way we achieve total UV protection. Back To Top

Production & Lead Times:

We try as far as possible to keep stock in our standard colours, but high volume orders are affecting our inventory daily and it is impossible to always guarantee immediate availability. Our production lead time, if the required fabrics are not in stock, is approximately 8 - 10 weeks calculated as follows:

4 weeks for the fabric production
2 weeks for coating
2 weeks for manufacture (sewing)
(Possible additional 2 weeks depending on any delays from our suppliers). Back To Top

Shipping & Delivery:

Over the years Tentickle has developed good relations with a number of freight and shipping companies. The cheapest and most convenient way is for the client to collect their shipment from the closest airport. A door to door delivery can raise the delivery cost by 50%.

Shipping / airfreight times are as follows:

5 days - by air + 3 days customs on both sides (max. pole length permitted is 3m) Realistically, overseas clients should allow at least 14 days from the day their shipment leaves our warehouse until arrival in the destination country for shipments by air. We have in the past experienced delays caused by customs on both sides as well as by flights not being available, and these delays should be budgeted for.

40 days - by boat (all length of poles possible)

(Only larger shipments are cheaper by boat. Single tents are cheaper by air.)

Overseas clients please note that in the case of shipping by sea, any remaining balance still outstanding must be paid in full once the shipment has been collected from our premises by our Shipping Agents. All exports to the European Union are supplied with a Eur.1 Document which means that all our European clients are exempted from paying any Import Taxes. Our European clients also do not pay any V.A.T. in South Africa, but pay only the V.A.T. amount on the Invoice applicable in their country!

Whilst Tentickle will at all times endeavour to deliver on time, we cannot always guarantee that shipments to overseas will leave as scheduled. Issues such as port congestion or bad weather, which may affect the departure of a particular vessel, are obviously out of our control. Tentickle can and does, however, guarantee the deadline of the completion of the manufacturing of any particular order. Back To Top
