Bedouin Tent Manufacture and Ordering

As leading Bedouin tent manufacturers, Tentickle has extensive experience in both manufacturing event tents and ensuring that all special requirements are catered for. Whether specifying the right accessories, advising on freight or choosing suitable lighting and décor, the following information should help you decide which products will suit you best when specifying your Bedouin Stretch Tent.

Bedouin Tent Fabric Manufacture - Product Information

After years of continuous and rigorous Research and Product Development, both in the field and in laboratories (in close collaboration with various local and international scientists and universities), our manufacturing division now offers a wide range of different types of technologically superior weatherproof tent fabrics.

Over the years, Bedouin tents have come to be used for more than just Tent Hire. Today our tent fabrics can be used for many different purposes with each product in the range specially designed to be suitable for its own particular purpose within the Bedouin tent industry. For example, products developed for hire purposes will not be as suitable as those designed for a permanent or semi-permanent installation. It therefore makes sense to supply and use the right type of fabrics for the appropriate market and type of usage.

Special designed fabrics

Tentickle works extremely closely with its suppliers, and now has direct access to the fabric production process. Years of research into a number of critical chemical coatings has resulted in these applications being available as optional extras which can be added to the tent fabrics. Treatments like Flame Retardance, waterproofing, insect and dirt-repellent and anti-fungal protection are a standard feature on some of our products and can also be applied onto others as an optional extra when required

Tentickle has also gained access to a unique UV and thermal barrier process. Our new "Factor X" extends the lifetime of fabric colour, waterproofing and strength and keeps the tent cool inside. Whilst this treatment will be standard on some of our products, "Factor X" can also be added onto any of our other tent products as an optional extra on orders of 500m2 or greater per colour.

Water and Sun Protection (Seam Sealing & Gutters)

Waterproofing of our stretch tent fabrics is achieved using a combination of physical and chemical coating. Sealing the seams, however, has been a big challenge in the Bedouin Tent industry. In the past seam sealing techniques were either ugly and didn't last, or looked nice but were ineffective. Our unique and exclusive seam sealing technology, uses special machine-applied seam sealing tape , in the same colour as the tent fabric, is invisible to the eye and is 100% waterproof.

Gutter Feature / System

Although the largest recommended single Bedouin Tent size is 600m2 (30m x 20m), larger structures can be created by joining tents together. Joins between the tents do create gaps but we offer a special gutter system that allows spaces to be closed quickly and easily, without affecting the aesthetics.

The transport bag protects the gear against damage and loss during storage, transport and on site. Whilst it is possible to erect our tents without carabine hooks, sliders, surround ropes and ratchets, for best results we advise using the tent items recommended in our quotes.

Tent Poles and accessories

We generally recommend using wooden poles (Blue Gum) to support our tents as they create an especially warm and cosy look and feel to the interior. However, we can supply Aluminium poles as well. Tentickle has its own injection moulds and can supply 3 different sizes of Mushroom Heads for the Aluminium Poles. Poles can only be air freighted up to 3m in length. To save costs, we advise overseas clients to source pegs and poles in their own countries as shipping such standard items can prove unnecessarily expensive. All wooden poles exported out of South Africa are fumigated prior to shipping and an internationally recognised Beetle-free Certificate is supplied to overseas clients.

Décor and Lighting Options

Our designer stretch décor and lighting options add a unique creativity to our tents. They not only afford a method of decorating and enhancing any space, they are also easy to order and use. Transport costs are generally very low and storage requirements are minimal. Intelligent and creative rigging skills can make for some big effects, winter seasonal income and the ability to add second and third colours to any tent.

UV Protection

Tent fabrics vary in the level of UV protection they offer. However, Tentickle 3-ply products offer natural UV protection due to the 3 layers of fabric in conjunction with our breathable waterproofing technology while keeping the tent cool in even very hot climates. We have also developed a solution for our lighter weight products called "Factor X". This revolutionary treatment can be applied onto any of our tent fabrics to achieve an additional UV block-out and heat deflector.

Production and Lead Times

We try as far as possible to keep stock in all our standard colours, but high volume orders can affect our inventory daily and it is not possible to guarantee immediate availability. Our production lead time, if the required fabrics are not in stock, is maximum 7 - 8 weeks, calculated as follows:

4 weeks for tent fabric production
2 weeks for tent fabric coating
1 - 2 weeks for tent manufacture (depending on size of order)
(Possible additional 2 weeks depending on any delays from our suppliers.)

Shipping and Delivery

The cheapest and most convenient method of delivery for single tents is to airfreight your shipment and collect it from the closest airport (door-to-door delivery can raise delivery costs by 50%).

Airfreight times are 5 - 10 working days (dependent on flight and space availability) plus three days for customs clearance on either side. (Please note: maximum tent pole length permitted by air transport is 3m)

In practice, you should allow a minimum of 14 days from the day your shipment leaves our warehouse until arrival in the destination country. Customs and flight delays do happen on occasion and should be allowed for - especially if you require your tent for a specific date.

Larger shipments are cheaper by boat, but do take longer to arrive, so allow 40 days overall. You can also ship any length of tent pole by sea freight.

All exports to the European Union are supplied with a Eur.1 Movement Certificate. This means all our European clients are exempted from paying any Import Taxes. Our European clients also do not pay VAT. in South Africa, but pay only the VAT applicable in their country.

As leading Bedouin tent manufacturers, we always endeavour to deliver on time. Although issues such as port congestion and bad weather, may affect the departure of a particular vessel and are out of our control, we do guarantee manufacture deadlines for the completion of any Bedouin tent order.
